Moving to Golf Course Extension Road in Gurgaon goes best when you treat the first week as part of the move: scout the approach, brief the crew with landmarks and keep a short list of what must work on day one. The truck-day itself is only the middle of the job.
This guide leaves out the sector list and the road description, which are on our page for Gurgaon Sectors 58 to 67. Here we cover the practical side for a family or a couple arriving at a newer address along the extension.
How should you scout Golf Course Extension Road before moving?
Visit once, at the hour you expect the truck to arrive. Note how long it takes from the nearest main crossing to the society gate, where a large vehicle could stop, and whether the gate has a pass desk. Ask the society office about lift booking, move-in hours and any deposit.
For landmarks, the Rapid Metro is a handy reference. Wikipedia's article on Rapid Metro Gurgaon describes a 6.6 km southward extension from Sikanderpur to Sector 55-56 that mostly runs through the Golf Course Road area, with stations at Sector 42-43, Sector 53-54, Sector 54 Chowk and Sector 55-56 as the southern terminus. The metro will not carry your goods, but "near Sector 54 Chowk" is a useful phrase for a driver who has to find the right side of the road.
What does a newer-sector address ask of the crew?
Mostly questions of access and order. Newer sectors tend to have apartment towers inside gated societies, and Wikipedia says Gurgaon has a growing share of high-rise residential towers. In practice, the crew will ask about:
- the gate through which the truck may enter, and the pass or vehicle number needed;
- the tower, the floor and whether the goods lift can be booked;
- the distance between the truck's stopping point and the tower entrance;
- whether other families are moving the same day.
A society is run by its own body. Wikipedia describes a resident welfare association as a non-governmental body that represents residents under its own bye-laws, so ask the office for the rules and do not assume them. Our guide to shifting into a high-rise society in Gurgaon has a full list of questions.
How do you brief the movers for this road?
Send four things: the society and sector, the tower and floor, the nearest landmark and the date. Add the lift position, the number of large items and any item that needs special handling. Then agree an arrival window with the crew and not a fixed minute.
Tip
Share your location pin of the society gate with the driver the night before. On a long road with several societies, a pin saves a phone call at the busiest moment.
What should the first week at the new address look like?
Plan it in days, so the flat feels usable early:
| Day | Focus |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Beds, bathroom, kitchen basics, chargers, documents |
| Day 2 | Wardrobes, clothes, the children's study corner |
| Day 3 | Living room, curtains, light fittings |
| Day 4 to 5 | Remaining cartons, small decor, balcony items |
| Day 6 to 7 | Waste removal, cartons collected, address updates |
If you want the crew to open and arrange cartons, our packing and unpacking service covers that, and the basics of the move are on the household shifting page. Tell us at booking if you would like a room-by-room unpacking.
What utilities and services should you test in the first days?
Test the water pressure, the power backup, the internet, the gas connection and the lift's goods mode. Wikipedia describes power and water supply in parts of Gurgaon as unreliable and says many companies keep their own backups; that is a general statement about the city and not a claim about any society here, but it is a reason to ask the society how backups work. Note the office contact number, the maintenance process and the nearest hospital and grocery, since new neighbourhoods can take time to fill in around you.
How do you keep the move calm on a busy road?
Start early, keep a person at each end, and let the crew work in its own order. Keep a day-one bag with you. If the society is also receiving other deliveries that day, ask the guard for a gate-side parking spot. Once the truck is empty, walk each room with the crew, tick off the cartons against your list and sign off only when you are satisfied.
This article is general information; check the society's rules, the road conditions and the metro details with the relevant authority before you act.
