Why Packing for Storage Differs

A truck journey is over in a day or a few days, while stored goods can stay put for many months. The longer wait calls for different packing.

  • Start clean and dry. Anything sealed away while damp can turn mouldy. Defrost the fridge and let it and the washing machine dry out.
  • Say what is inside. With a number, your name and a short note of the contents, you can ask for one particular carton instead of having the whole stack brought out.
  • Mattresses and sofas get a cover of protective sheeting against dust.
  • Weight at the bottom. Heavier cartons form the base of a stack, with lighter ones above.
